Lansdowne Care Services set to quadruple their apprentices
You may remember from the January e-newsletter
that Nick Flatters, Senior Care Manager at Lansdowne Road Home in
Bedford had taken on his first apprentice, Carlie Emmerton from
Bedford College. This was part of a long term strategy to
benefit the entire team at Lansdowne by developing the next
generation of carers alongside more experienced staff.
Four months on, the Apprenticeship scheme has
been so successful that Nick is now looking to take on four more
apprentices – one for each department at their two residential
homes and two centres. Nick said,
“We’ve found the Apprenticeship scheme to be
very valuable and we’re now looking to bring in and develop more
apprentices as our future workforce. The fact that their
training is supported by Government funding is extremely helpful
for us as employers and the apprentices themselves have the chance
to gain nationally recognised qualifications that stand them in
good stead for the future.”
