There is nothing like real life practical advice
It is better than all the theory you will ever
receive.
Following her attendance at the Online
Business Marketing for the Non-Technical evening event at Bedford
College, Hayley Tilley sought some practical advice. She told
me she had taken some of the advice I'd given at the event and
wanted to know
what else she could do to improve her business website.
To see my advice to Hayley follow the above
link.

Some marketing ideas are so simple
For example getting your business on Page One
of Google isn’t nearly as difficult as you might think. Getting on
page one isn’t down to luck; you just have to follow some basic
rules.
The thing is most people really don’t
understand the basic rules .. and sadly that includes many website
designers and marketing specialists. That actually decreases the
competition to get on Page One of Google. If you understand the
rules, and they don’t, you can beat your competition .. however big
they are.
Although there are hundreds of things you
could do to improve your businesses search results here are
three most essential things you can do to significantly increase
your position on any search engine.

Top social networking tips
I’m often asked about social media / social
networking and am happy to help people with it. However there are
some fundamental questions you should ask before you start
Tweeting, writing on Walls or using the more advanced bits of
LinkedIn.
To see what they are go to
Social Media Strategies and Tactics.
Website critique
In future posts I’ve been asked to critique the
website of someone that attended the event. They have a great
looking website that will be of interest to many people .. but we
managed to find several ways they could improve their site and
position in the search engines. Look out for a future email.
Bedfordshire Business Group
Can I also encourage you to join the Bedfordshire
Business Group on LinkedIn. We’ll be posting more tips on it and
you also have the opportunity to post questions for the group to
answer. It could be a great way to showcase your business locally
and for local businesses to work together.
