Bedford College was among the big business sponsors of the Rising Stars awards run by the Johnston Press newspaper group.

In keeping with current trends, the College sponsored The Apprenticeship category of the competition.

Bedford College has trained generations of apprentices and continues to be in the forefront of the modern approach to bringing employers and young people together.

Director of the multi-award-winning Bedford College Sharon Chinneck said: “We strongly urged organisations of all sizes  to use the Rising Stars competition to help raise their profile in the Bedfordshire market place. Business is more competitive than ever and a short investment in time in completing the entry forms has meant fantastic PR rewards for the winners.”

The awards ceremony was held on November 10th at the Park Inn Hotel in St Mary’s Street, Bedford and was covered by all the Johnston Press local papers as well as its websites which include a video of the event.

Winner of the Small/Medium size business award was the College’s own business: The Mansion House at Old Warden Park, Shuttleworth. The country house venue is now used for weddings, corporate events and celebrations.  General Manager Raj Mandal collected the award.
