Backing the BID
Bedford College supports local businesses by backing a
second term of BedfordBID.
BedfordBID helps to promote the town centre
and encourages people to “buy local”. The scheme spends some
£600,000 a year on promoting Bedford and ensuring that
visitors to the town centre have a good experience - including
help from the town centre Bluecap guides.
Bedford College is based in the town centre
and each day hundreds of college staff and students cross the Town
Bridge to spend in local shops and restaurants.
College Chief Executive Ian Pryce is also
Chairman of the BedfordBID Board and he said:
"Given the very tough economic climate facing
local business, this is a good result for Bedford and a good result
for Bedford businesses. We have a great team at BID and the
extra money the BID vote brings in will allow us to make our town
centre even cleaner, safer and friendlier. We will continue
to work hard to attract new business to Bedford and work with all
our partners, private and public, to ensure we have a distinctive
town centre our vibrant community deserves."
