Microsoft qualifications for IT professionals
Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
qualification offers organisations the opportunity to set up and
run successful IT support for their internal
customers.
Bedford College is launching two new courses
to provide IT professionals with an internationally recognised
Microsoft qualification and the skills needed to run successful IT
support. Pat Whittome, Technology Training and Development Manager
at Bedford College said:
“The certification covers a unique set of
skills required to succeed in a variety of job roles, such as: help
desk technician; customer support representative; computer support
specialist; technical support representative and technical support
specialist."
“The course takes only seven days to complete,
including exam preparation, or it can be taken as ‘blended
learning’ via the Microsoft e-learning platform."

qualification ensures that staff managing the technology function
are more efficient and effective at supporting users across the
business. Ultimately this leads to a better performing work
environment, which benefits everyone.”
During the training, students will cover a
wide range of topics including: installing Windows XP Desktop
Operating System; Managing and Troubleshooting Access to Resources;
Configuring and Troubleshooting the Hardware Devices, Drivers,
Desktop and User Environments; Troubleshooting Network Protocols
and Services; Resolving Issues Related to Usability, Configuring
and Troubleshooting Connectivity for Applications; Configuring
Application Security. This can be upgraded to the Windows 7
operating system with one upgrade test.
