Funding for maths and English courses
Employees with weaker maths and English skills can have a
significant effect on your business, with high staff turnover and
poor performance resulting in a cost to the economy up to £10bn a
year.
...so having staff that possess good literacy and
numeracy skills is a crucial success factor for most
businesses.
In England 5.2 million adults have literacy
levels below the levels required to achieve a GCSE grade D-G, while
6.8 million adults are estimated to have difficulties in
adding/subtracting using three digit numbers. A total of 15
million adults have skills at the same low level and have
difficulties with fractions, decimals and simple percentages.
It is estimated that at least half of those
with poor basic skills are in employment and yet evidence shows
that basic literacy and numeracy skills are critically important to
performance at work.
At Bedford College Training Services we can
now provide funded training to businesses in the East of England
whose staff have maths and English training needs.
To be eligible, your staff must be aged 19 or
over, have been resident in the UK for at least three years and
live or work in the East of England.
