Electrical & Electronic Engineering
The UK electronics industry is worth
approximately £23 billion a year and is now the fifth largest in
the world in terms of production. The industry is fast moving and
continues to be highly competitive.
The skills mix in the electronics workforce is
changing and organisations are reducing the proportion of
lower-skilled people they employ. Instead there is a greater
need for professional engineers to work in design, research and
development. Employers also need more technicians with good
technical skills combined with team leadership and forward-planning
skills.
Bedford College has been providing quality
training for the electrical/electronics industry for over 25 years.
We can support you in making sure your employees receive the
training they need, with clear progression routes.
Our comprehensive electronics
teaching resources makes use of the latest computer-based
training systems, incorporating multimedia learning materials,
virtual instrumentation and optional Internet delivered
instruction.
Designed to address the basic aspects of
electrical and electronic technology, these resources enable both
practical and simulated exploration of circuits.
Using these in tandem with traditional breadboarding and
prototyping methods to design and build circuits, our learners will
experience a wide diversity of electronic techniques - aimed to
familiarise them with real-world electronic systems.
We also have site-wide access to industry-standard electronic
simulation software enabling students to further familiarise
themselves with electronic design before committing to
production.
These training resources map across nationally recognised units
such as Electrical/Electronic Principles, Analogue Electronics and
Electrical Applications - and complement other broader subjects
including Communications for Engineers and Health & Safety to
ensure students obtain a rounded qualification applicable to many
areas of the engineering sector.
We also offer many specific units, aimed to familiarise learners
with certain industrial equipment - such as PLCs - or to meet the
needs of local industry - such as units in Electronic Circuit
Manufacture.
Again, we back these up with current technology and links with
local industry to keep our delivery relevant and up-to-date.
