Young woman engineer award
This prestigious award honours the very best female engineers under
the age of 30 working in the UK today. It seeks to highlight
the achievements of women in engineering and to encourage others to
enter the profession.
One of our HNC students who works for Ofcom,
Sara Salim, entered the competition and was invited to Savoy Place,
in London, to give a short presentation on her role as an engineer
and to be “grilled” by the panel. She has now been invited to
receive an award at the ceremony on the 8th
December. She will shortly be having a film team visit her so
that she can record her “story” which will form part of the
evening’s celebration.
At this stage Sara doesn’t know whether she
has won the “Young Woman Engineer of the Year” or the “Young Woman
Apprentice Engineer of the Year” as the IET were that impressed
with her presentation that they have included her in the first
category as well.
