CompTIA certification provides the learner with excellent,
industry recognised, vendor neutral skills and qualifications which
will help launch and further your IT career.
The CompTIA Strata course offered at Bedford
College is a new and exciting programme of study, tailored to the
individual who is either looking for an entry point into the IT
workplace or equally, consolidate and gain accreditation for
knowledge, already gained whilst working within the sector.
The Strata certificate an ideal platform from which to
pursue higher certifications in CompTIA A+, and with specialized
experience, CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security +.
The programme delivery consists of both lab
based practical and theory sessions run at the College’s Caudwell
Street campus, supported by online resources designed to allow
flexible learning.
The programme will prepare the learner to sit
two exams; (PC Functionality and PC Technology) which together,
constitute the CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certification.
The details of each exam are listed below:
CompTIA Strata - Fundamentals of PC Functionality:
Assesses a candidate's knowledge of basic ICT
vocabulary and PC components. The exam covers the basics of setting
up a PC workstation, installing software and recognizing /
preventing security threats.
CompTIA Strata - Fundamentals of PC Technology:
Assesses a candidate's ability to explain the
characteristics of PC hardware and peripherals, as well as identify
basic compatibility issues and operational problems. The exam also
covers safety guidelines and preventative maintenance of
computers.

CompTIA A+
CompTIA certification provides the learner
with excellent, industry recognised, vendor neutral skills and
qualifications which will help launch and further your IT
career.
The CompTIA A+ course offered at Bedford
College is designed for the individual who has a good fundamental
understanding of personal computers and their peripherals and is
either looking for an entry point into the IT workplace or equally,
consolidate and gain accreditation for knowledge, already gained
whilst working within the sector. The A+ certificate is an
ideal platform from which to pursue higher certifications in
CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security +.
The CompTIA A+ course will provide the learner
with the core knowledge required to sit the two CompTIA A+ exams
necessary to be certified:
- CompTIA A+ Essentials, Exam Code
220-701;
- CompTIA A+ Practical Application, Exam Code
220-702..
This qualification is positioned above the
entry level CompTIA Strata certification, also offered at the
College.
